Tematyka jego badań skupia się na badaniu zdolności chemisorpcji i wewnątrzkomórkowego gromadzenia pierwiastków (m.in. selen czy żelazo). Wykorzystuje produkty odpadowe pochodzące z różnych gałęzi branży rolno-spożywczej jako składników podłoża hodowlanego do wzrostu drożdży. Wiele uwagi poświęca badaniom na temat oznaczenia nowych związków selenowych (selenometabolitów) oraz kompleksowej ocenie wpływu selenu na zmiany morfologiczne, metaboliczne lipidów i aminokwasów. Wykazuje również zainteresowanie możliwością otrzymania różnych metabolitów produkowanych przez drożdże i bakterie na drodze mikrobiologicznej, mogących znaleźć szerokie zastosowanie w różnych gałęziach przemysłu spożywczego oraz farmaceutycznego.
